PSUs and CLAT PG Exam

What is a PSU?

PSU or a Public Sector Undertaking as the term indicates is a public sector enterprise (or organisation) which is owned by the Union Government or either a state or a territorial government or both. The majority share of a PSU (51 percent or more) is held by the Union Government or by a State Government or partly by the central government and partly by one or more State Governments. PSUs have their own recruitment process for recruiting technical and non-technical employees.

PSU recruitment through CLAT 2020: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for a vacancy and filling the application form of PSU recruitment, the candidate should carefully go through the eligibility criteria of the PSU. Considering each Public Sector Undertaking will have its own eligibility criteria, it is important to check the eligibility criteria every time the candidate applies to a PSU.

The basic requirement generally is an LL.B graduate (passed out from either three-year or five-year integrated law programmes) securing a minimum percentage of marks as specified by the PSUs. The candidate also need to have qualified CLAT 2020 securing minimum qualifying marks.

As for age criteria, the PSU will notify it at the time of recruitment trough a notification.

Eligibility Criteria for applying to PSU:

  1. A student applying for PSU needs to meet the minimum marks scored when applying for PG (LLM)- General/OBC: 55%; SC/ST/: 50%

  2. For certain PSUs, a candidate may also be required to score 60% marks or above. It varies from PSU to PSU.

  3. There’s no upper age limit for applying to PSU.

  4. Minimum cut off prediction is tough at this hour, however, we can safely say a candidate needs to be in Top 30 in PG score for getting selected for PSU.
